Conservancy

With a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences, the BNPC board protects the well-being of Badlands National Park by preserving its restorative and otherworldly aura.

As an official partner of the Badlands National Park, we raise critical funds in support of capital outlay projects, resource protection, and the enhancement of recreational and educational opportunities through the park.

New Visitor Center

To properly accommodate the drastically growing visitor population, the BNPC is leading an effort to replace the existing visitor center. The new center will help educate visitors on the Badlands' cultural and natural resources, dark sky viewing opportunities, paleontology uniqueness, and tribal cooperation.

Dark Sky Certification

Badlands National Park will be the first and only designated International Dark Sky Park in the state of South Dakota. Only a quarter of U.S. National Parks have received IDA certification, making the Badlands a rare park that's specifically protected for its exceptional quality of starry nights and nocturnal environment. The designation could lead to a 30-40% increase in visitation within the first two years.
